Dorsiflexion Self-Assessment

Physical Therapist Dr. Colin Miller demonstrates how to preform a dorsiflexion assessment using the wall test. This is a great test that is easy and gives you direct feedback on your ankle mobility. Research shows us that being able to dorsiflex the ankle 3 inches over the toe allows proper walking mechanics and 4-5 inches allows for proper deep squatting. If you are having difficulty with reaching these measurements, this could develop into compensations in movements creating knee, hip, and or back pain. Throughout your ankle mobility training, keep returning to this assessment to track your progress.
